Hi, I'm Saba, a freelance illustrator and occasional storyteller. I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. When I was 17 years old, I left home and moved to Dubai where I was studying Interior Design at the American University in Dubai. I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a passion for illustration. I lived in Dubai for 8 years and then moved to Berlin for a few months. Then I moved to London in 2012 and after 11 years of living in this crazy (but beautiful) city, I moved to Frankfurt in 2023 where I am currently focusing on my illustration 'journey'.
An optimist, I look for humour, positive energy, warmth and compassion in everything I draw. I find inspiration in simple, everyday moments, like drinking my first cup of coffee in the morning (hence far too many coffee-related illustrations), going for a walk in our neighbourhood, listening to music and so on. I also like to experiment and do new things to keep my work fresh. In the end, my drawings are a direct translation of how I experience things, and I've always found that so magical.
My dream would be to illustrate children's books and to write and illustrate my own children's books. So if you would like to know more about bespoke commissions or collaborations, please get in touch. I would love to work with you on exciting projects.
